The Commute
Through crowded concrete veins we make our way
as asphalt hearts pump never ending flaws.
So many hours lost from day to day.
We sit in lines at traffic lights and pray,
that rubber tires roll without a pause.
Through crowded concrete veins we make our way.
Like winding streams of ants we swerve and sway,
impatient drivers dare to break the laws.
So many hours lost from day to day.
A clot of twisted metal brings delay,
slick roads from rain the night before the cause.
Through crowded concrete veins we make our way.
Behind glass windows weary eyes display,
the stress and strain from firmly gripping claws.
So many hours lost from day to day.
But Fridays sometimes bring relief they say,
a little less tightening of the jaws.
